Wifi | What restrictions does the APNK wifi have?

Emailing

  • You can NOT send email from your mail client (eg Outlook or Thunderbird) UNLESS it is configured to use secure SMTP 587

Other restrictions

  • Wifi hotspots only operate during Library's opening hours
  • Connection ends after 10 minutes of inactivity - you need to connect and agree to our Terms of Use again
  • File size limits AND filtering see Downloading
  • The following network protocols or ports are supported ... HTTP 80, HTTPS 443, POP 110, Secure Pop 995 , IMap 143, Secure IMap 993, Secure SMTP 587, Real Time Streaming 554, Windows Media Services 1755, Real-Time Messaging Protocol 1935.
  • Internet use on network protocols and ports not listed above are not supported, for example Runescape, Instant Messaging, LimeWire and other peer-to-peer sharing applications are not supported on the APN wifi service AND WILL NOT WORK.
  • To FTP you need to enter these details in your web browsers proxy options FTP proxy = 10.10.10.1 port 80
