Wifi | Can I log into Yahoo Messenger?

Yes - to use Yahoo Messenger on the APNK wifi network you need to set a proxy.

In Windows

  • open Internet Explorer
  • Tools
  • Internet Options
  • Connections tab
  • LAN settings
  • Set the proxy to 10.10.10.1 on port 80

Note - when you have finished using the APNK wifi you should untick this proxy setting OTHERWISE you will NOT BE ABLE to use the Internet on other networks.

In Yahoo Messenger

  • Messenger
  • Preferences
  • Connections
  • Select HTTP proxy (Yahoo Messenger will now use the proxy settings you set in Internet Explorer)

You should now be able to log in.

You may be able to use this workaround when on the APNK wifi for other applications on your laptop that try to connect directly to the internet.
