Virus | Virus alert - what should I do?
There are probably three types of virus warnings on that may occur on APNK computers
- Hoax website warning - see our FAQ on this.
- Blocked website because of virus
- this page will display the APNK logo and state it is blocked because virus or malware have been detected on the website. This page is not a hoax and you will not be able to view the website on the APNK PCs.
- Virus detected on a file or document on the APNK computer, perhaps on a removable drive such as a flash drive. In this case you can -
- delete the infected file
- ignore the file and carry on using the computer, you will not be able to access the infected file
- try disinfecting the infected file using the anti-virus software installed on the APNK computer.
Instructions for disinfecting files
To scan and disinfect your USB Flash drive ...
- Access the antivirus software by right clicking the OfficeScan icon in the system tray (the blue circle icon with the squiggly line through it is located near the clock in the bottom right corner of the screen)
- Select OfficeScan console
- Tick the drive you wish to scan
- Click the scan button
Access to virus infected files is denied until the file can be successfully disinfected.
