Scanning | Why change file type and how?

The APNK flat-bed scanners default to file type JPEG.  You may wish to change this, for example to

PDF - to share the file with other people and you wish to preserve the formatting and reduce peoples ability to edit the file

TIFF - you wish to OCR the file

  • The APNK recommends you do NOT use TIFF file format unless for OCRing.

Multi-page TIFF - you wish to create one file with more than one page within it

Instructions - how to change the file type on the APNK scanner

Note - At any time to Reset Scanner to default settings press the “All Services” button

  • Place the original
    - Lift the lid (from the front)
    - Place original face down
    - Place the top edge of the original to the left edge of the glass pane.
    - Slide the original to back edge of the glass pane
    - Close the lid
  • Start the scanner (if the Power Saving button light is on press it)
  • Select the scan location
    - Scan to PC (to a folder shortcut on the APNK computers desktop)
    - Scan to Media (your USB flash drive inserted in the USB port at the front of the scanner)
  • Touch the “Basic Scanning” tab 
  • Touch the file type you prefer under “File Format” section
  • Touch the Save In tab
  • Press the green START button to begin scanning
