Frequently Asked Questions

Saving | How can I save my work?

To permanently save your work while using an APNK computer you have a number of options ...

  • Web Mail - if you have an email address you could email yourself the file as an attachment (or save it to email "drafts").  Note you need to have a web based email account such as Gmail, Hotmail or Yahoo OR log onto your web based mail account eg orcon.net.nz to do this.
  • USB Flash Drive - use a USB flash drive (also known as a pen drive). This can be plugged into the front USB ports on the APNK public computers and will probably be drive E:\ in My Computer
  • Memory Card - similar to a USB flash drive, flash memory cards can be plugged into the front slots of the APN Public PC. See Removable media regarding what is supported. Digital devices such as cameras and some cell phones often have internal memory cards which can be removed and plugged directly into PCs.
  • Writeable CD or DVD - the APNK computers have a read-writeable CD/DVD drive
  • Store your work online. A Web 2.0 option and is suitable for people who are never far from an internet connection.
