A good source for finding music online are music blogs. HypeMachine and Elbo are web sites or aggregators that search music blogs for MP3s using RSS feeds. Many artists also have MySpace pages which may include the ability to listen or download their music.
TIP - when you find a link to an MP3 try right clicking "Save Target As" to save the file to the computer rather than streaming it.
