Frequently Asked Questions

iPhone | Can I use my iPhone?

Probably NOT on an APNK public computer as we need to upgrade iTunes to version 10 - this will happen in the next few months (1/6/11).  HOWEVER - even if v10 is installed be very careful before sync'ing your iPhone. iTunes is setup to work with one authorized computer (such as your home computer) AND WILL WIPE all content on your iPhone when you sync with a different computer.

Yes - you can use your iPhone on the APNK wifi network

If the APNK partner library you are at has APNK wifi then you can use your iPhone or iPod Touch on the APNK wifi network.

TIP 1 - you should be prompted to agree to the terms of use after making a wifi connection.  If you don't get the terms of use page open Safari web browser and see if that brings it up.  If not try disconnecting your wifi and connecting again.

TIP 2 - your wifi connection times out after 10 minutes of inactivity and you must agree to the terms of use again before using the wifi network.

TIP 3 - do NOT have a proxy set in Safari or you will be unable to use the APNK wifi service. Error message: "there was a problem communicating with the web proxy server".
Go to (Home) Settings, WiFi, select wifi network's blue arrow, scroll down to HTTP Proxy and turn off.

iTunes

While iTunes is installed on the APNK public computers Apple doesn't support using more than one computer with iTunes to sync with an iPhone.
