Images | Picture Manager - how can I resize a photo?

MS Office Picture Manager icon

You can use Microsoft Office Picture Manager to resize photos or image files.

Resizing an image means that the file size is reduced and this may make it easier to send / email / upload / download.  The cost of making an image file smaller is loss of quality - the image will start to look blurry or pixelated.

MS Office Picture Manager resize instructions

  • right click the image you wish to resize
  • left click Open With
  • select Microsoft Office Picture Manager
  • select Picture menu
  • select Resize
  • on the right hand side of the screen a tool bar will appear
  • you can select the "predefined width x height" option to select a new image size
  • eg Email small
  • click on the OK button
  • VERY IMPORTANT select File, Save As
  • Give your image a new name (don't overwrite your existing image)
  • click on the SAVE button

You have now created a second image file which is of a different (smaller) size that its original.
